I’ve made an alteration to the bird song course meaning that the next session will now be on April 29th NOT the 22nd. This is simply because most of those on Walk Number 1 were unable to make the date of the second walk!!
The first session went really well despite being quite windy – 24 species being recorded! More importantly, we listened carefully to the call and songs and practised some methods of identifying which birds make which noises!! These include listening to song patterns (rambling or set); loudness; pitch; quality (metallic, coarse, soft); repetition or not; position or song perches; territory signs; courting or hostile calls; and much, much more!!
If you fancy learning more about bird song, you are very welcome to join us for the second walk – you won’t be at any disadvantage through not having done the first walk!! Places are limited but still available at just £20 per session – just click here to book. The walks are all within easy reach of Haslemere but actual venues will be emailed nearer the time. The dates are as follows:
29th April – Dawn Chorus
21st May – Evening chorus
1st July – something special!! (Evening)
